Tamang Heritage Trek

Your first day in this beautiful valley will begin with the greetings from our local operators escorting you to your hotel. Our representatives will brief you about the trek to follow and they will be available at all hours in case of any queries.

The city of temples rich in world heritage sites is something you should not miss for the world. Our representative will meet you at the hotel at 7 am sharp after which he will take you in a private vehicle to Pashupatinath temple, the epitome of Hindu religion's faith where you will encounter people of all religions basking in the beautiful carvings and architecture of the temple along with cultural richness. The other destinations to follow are Boudhanath Stupa, Swayambhunath, and Basantapur (Kumari Ghar) whose significance will be explained to you by our representative in the spot itself. After helping you with your last-minute shopping, at 7 pm sharp you will be dropped at your hotel. Note: If you want to capture the significant part of the Himalayas, now would be the best moment to try Mountain Flight. The flight is not included in the package but with additional fees, it can be managed.

7-8 hours of drive from Kathmandu will take us to Syabrubesi which is quite a bazaar stocked with lots of hotels and lodges, but that's not it, the drive there will be a treat to your eyes with the greenery around and cold breeze bringing the aroma of floras around. Overnight stay at Syabrubesi.

3-4 hours of trek from Syabrubesi will take us to Goljung(1960m) but before that, we will reach the viewpoint from where we can see mountains like Ganesh Himal, Gosainkunda range, Sishapangma, Langtang Lirung, and the Goljung Valley. Then headed to Gatlang (2240m) which is a tiny beautiful village and the origin of Tamang ethnic people in Nepal. The warm hospitality and culture of Tamang will make you feel at home. You will be welcomed by “Khada” (white scarf) and the homemade local drinks “Rakshi” accompanied by the cultural song. The local Syabru dance will keep you entertained. Overnight stay at Gatlang. The indigenous people of this region, grow corn, potatoes, berries, and varied grains and cooked over an open fire. Descending down from the viewpoint, we trek down to Goljung valley for our overnight stay.

After a hearty breakfast,we will head towards Tatopani(2607m) that will take us about 6-7 hours which has a natural hot spring and we will relax our stiff muscles there. We will trek with a descent to Thangbuche by the Bhote Koshi River and enjoy the views of the Ganesh Himal and Langtang Ranges along the way. Then we will pass by the Chilime Hydropower dam and ascend towards Tatopani. Overnight stay at local guest house.

Today we will walk for 6 hours and pass through the dense alpine forest until we reach a small typical Tamang settlement of Brimdang. We will have a close mountain view and then ascend to the grassland reaching Nagthali Danda(3300m), where we can view the snow-covered Himalayas like Langtang, Sanjen, Kerung, and Ganesh Himal. Nagthali is the popular meditation center for local monks. After that, we descend down to Thuman through the forest where we may see wildlife as well. Thuman is quite popular for its Shamanic performances and the culture of the Tamang community will be showcased during our overnight stay there.

6 hours of the walk will take us to Briddim today via Lingling which is a Tibetan Buddhist village with ancient Tibetan immigrants. We can also visit the Dukchu Gomba monastery. Overnight stay at Briddim.

It's a 5-hour walk to Syabrubesi, the starting point of our trek, and the last day of our walk as well leaving the wilderness of Himalayas behind. overnight at Syabrubeshi.

Back again to Kathmandu through the serpentine road enjoying the view of waterfalls, paddy fields, lush green forests, mountains, and rural life which will make the 7-hour drive like 7 seconds! You all will be dropped at your respective places or hotels with a farewell dinner and token of love from us!

Tamang Heritage Trek will come to an end on this day, but not the memories you have with yourselves. All your photos and videos will be provided to you along with a token of love from our side. Ultra Nepal crew members will escort you towards the Airport. The journey we started as strangers, we always hope to end it as friends.
